While at AZ, we wanted to take advantage of the new venue and get some really nice shots of our respective new costumes in front of the fountain and stairs.

Waverley Place is an old, abandoned open-air shopping center near to us, and one of our favourite hang-outs. It is also wonderful for Bleach photoshooting. I wanted some more shots of my blue dress for Ru, so Kan-chan and I decided to fix up a casual shoot and she picked out a cute outfit for Orihime.

I helped my friend Lori Hardee make her Sailor Pluto costume for AZ this year. While the only part that I did myself was the boot covers, she did a fantastic job on the rest of it. We took some lovely shots of the finished project in her backyard.

The first kimono that I ever made, out of silk brocade, I wore as Hyuuga Hinata. Kan-chan and I went out to Southpointe mall and decided to do an impromptu photoshoot there.

So, for agreeing to help my friend Jay by making the pants for his Zach costume, he bribed me with enough of this lovely cotton I'd been eyeing to make a yukata out of. I love the pattern on this, and the colours are beautiful. I made it into a furisode yukata with a bright red obi, originally to be worn as Hinata. However, it looks so good as either Ru or Hiyori, that I couldn't decide.

I had just finished this pretty yukata -- the fabric was a bribe XD -- when Kan-chan purchased hers from this lovely consignment shop we frequent, and we decided it would be a perfect opportunity to do a Rukia and Orihime shoot out at the gardens.

When Lithe-Fider agreed to be Kan-chan's Orochimaru, I was drafted to make the costume.


The pants are simple black linen with an elastic waist

The tunic was done from tan linen, made with a boat neck that was just small enough to not fall off of her shoulders and didn't need to be pinned.

Her bow was made using the same method as the other two, though it had to be pinned to keep the tails up at her shoulders.

She provided her own shirt, as well as her wig and her earrings.

Kan-chan fell in love with the new filler character in Naruto, and wanted to be the first person to cosplay her. Needless to say, she makes a lovely Guren.


Guren's coat is made of cotton edged in faux fur for the collar. The camellias were appliqued on by hand after being stenciled onto pellon for patterns.

Her shirt and shorts are made of the same Ponte knit as her gloves and boots, in a different colour. The shirt zips up the back, and the pants are standard bike shorts.

Guren's bow is the king of all godforsaken ass-bows. Double-layered, with longer loops and tails, it took even longer to make than the one for Tayuya or the one for Orochimaru. However, the fact that it's tails hang rather than standing up actually makes it easier to get on and off, as it splits much easier down the center back for the fasteners.

Katsucon this year was held in the same hotel that normally hosts AUSA. While the hotel was way too small for Katsu's needs, there was still a wonderful little outdoor mezzanine where we took some neat outdoor shots.
